CABIN BY THE LAKE
Young women have gone mysteriously missing in a quiet lakeside community. They are the unwilling research subjects of Stanley Caldwell (Nelson), a successful Hollywood screenwriter who guns for realism. His latest script is about a serial killer cum kidnapper who drowns beautiful young women. For research, he grabs his victims off the streets and locks them up in his homey-on-the-outside, dungeon-on-the-inside cabin by the lake, where he feeds, clothes, then dunks them into the lake with a concrete block tied to their ankles. The screenwriter then scuba-dives into the lake the next day to retrieve his blue and bloated creations to observe them back home.

CRY-BABY
Maverick director John Waters does a quirky spin on '50s nostalgia in Cry-Baby, his musical homage to Rebel Without a Cause and Romeo and Juliet. Set in Baltimore in 1954 at the birth of rock 'n' roll, the film features Johnny Depp as Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker. He is a juvenile delinquent with a permanent tear slithering down his cheek, a reminder of the tragedy of a lost romance. In the depths of his despair appears goody-goody girl Allison (Locane), who has a sexual crush on Cry-Baby. But Allison's boyfriend is dead set against Cry-Baby and the rest of the juvenile delinquents. The stage is set for a riotous time.

Jonathan Fisher (Reeve) is a magazine writer in danger of losing his job. He makes a last-ditch promise to his editor: he will write a riveting story about the world of prostitution in New York's famous Times Square. However, he ends up faking a well-received story of a pimp, which describes his life and crimes. Unfortunately, the police think it's the story of the real life pimp, Fast Black (Freeman), who is wanted for murder. They start pressuring Fisher to reveal the identity of the subject in his story.
