One of the passengers happens to be news reporter Gale (Davis), who is intent on finding her savior, and offers a million dollars to the "hero" of the crashed flight. Bernie has since given his remaining shoe to a homeless man named John (Garcia), who decides to cash in on the offer. A handsome, charming man, John wins the hearts of the entire city. Soon, Bernie realizes that he's been cheated out of a million dollars, and attempts to get both his proper recognition, and his money back.

A jewel thief is at large on the Riviera, and evidence points to retired cat burglar, John Robie (Grant). Grant pleads innocence, and vows to find out who has been copying his distinctive style. With the reluctant aid of a detective, John starts keeping tabs on the wealthiest vacationers on the Riviera, with the hopes of catching the real thief in the act.

Remember, remember, 5th of November. That was the day Guy Fawkes planned to blow up the English Parliament in 1605, but failed. Now in futuristic Britain under the control of a totalitarian government, a masked man known as V (Weaving) wants to complete the task that his hero failed to do. The masked vigilante aims to ignite a revolution of the oppressed citizens with his daring guerilla attacks at the Big Brother government, culminating with the blowing up of the Parliament House. Along the way, V saves a young girl called Evey (Portman) and grooms her to be his successor.

WEEKEND WAR
A group of California National Guard engineers, led by Capt. John Deason (Collins), are called to Honduras to build a runway for a training mission. However, before his men can finish the runway, they're asked to do yet another task: rebuild a bridge that connects a small village to the local marketplace. At first, Deason is reluctant to send his men to do this seemingly insignificant job. But then it turns out that this bridge serves a greater function than expected. It's the only connecting bridge between Honduras and Nicaragua, in a 30 mile area. Therefore, it's important to the Contras, the local drug lords, and the Sandinistas. Suddenly, it occurs to Deason that there's something a little more at stake here than performing an act of goodwill for the local villagers. The Guardsmen soon find themselves caught in the crossfire of a guerrilla war.
