DANGEROUS LIAISONS
This adaptation of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, the novel written by French author Choderlos de Laclos, follows the scheming ploys of the exquisite Marquise de Merteuil (Close), who enlists her former lover, the Vicomte de Valmont (Malkovich) in exacting revenge on another former lover for jilting her to marry a virgin. Valmont's challenge is to deflower the intended bride, the beautiful Cecile de Volanges (Uma Thurman). However, Merteuil soon discovers that he has other plans of his own. Valmont's real target is someone else – a beautiful married woman, Madame de Tourvel (Pfeiffer), who believes strongly in the sanctity of marriage. The eventual results of this torrid arrangement and manipulation - self-destruction.

A double agent has to contend with enemies on both sides of the political fence, as well as the woman he loves, in this classic thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Professor Michael Armstrong (Newman) is a gifted American physicist who, at the height of the Cold War, decides to defect to East Germany. To his surprise, his fiancée, fellow scientist Sarah Sherman (Andrews), follows him. She soon discovers that Armstrong is no traitor, but is instead acting as a secret undercover agent.
